The Stockies travelled to Bere Alston on a hot Tuesday evening in August to play their first match of the season against a Bere side who lost their opening game against Fremington.
The match was less than a minute old when Plymstock had a great chance to open their account for the season as Joe Jasper saw his effort saved well by the home custodian Ryelee Deignan who pushed the effort wide for a corner.
The opening chances of the game were dominated by the visiting side and they had another great chance when a great advantage was played by the referee with the ball finding Bayley Williams who hit a volley just wide of the target.
With seventeen minutes on the clock the home side opened the scoring as a free kick was delivered into the box by Jack Biscoe with the ball being plucked out of the air and finished from close range by Ben Clarke.
Plymstock didnβt let the setback get to them as they continued to dominate the chances as they looked for a way back into the game. Jasper managed to turn in the box and fire just wide and moments later a corner was flicked onto the post by Bayley Williams.
The second half started in a similar fashion to how the first half ended but the hosts managed to double the lead after just ten minutes. A corner was headed home by Samuel Leivesley.
Mark Loudon fired an effort narrowly over the bar as the visitors desperately looked for a way back into the game but it looked like it would be game over shortly after as Bere Alston came agonisingly close to getting a third. Cal Massey saw his effort cleared off the line by the Plymstock defender to keep the score down.
Raine Chinnock came close as he broke free and fired wide of the target as the hosts started to dominate and the night went from bad to worse for the visitors who were reduced to ten men. After being flagged offside Bayley Williams kicked the ball away and received his second yellow card of the evening.
A game with plenty of chances as the hosts get their first points of the season whilst itβs a night to forget for the visitors.
