2025 Thirst Fitness League Cup Final Greenway Lane

DFL NEWS – 13th June 2025

Another season is now over and we can all enjoy a bit of respite before it all starts again in a few weeks with pre-season friendlies before the competitive matches once again start in August.

2024/2025 Honours – I would like to start with congratulating all the winners from the season with plenty of silverware being won. University of Exeter reclaimed the league title after a season long showdown with Alphington who pushed them all the way, the Students also won the Devon Premier Cup with a comfortable showing in the final against Lapford from the Devon & Exeter League. After narrowly missing out on the title, Alphington claimed silverware as they beat Appledore in the ThirstFitness League Cup Final which was superbly hosted by Budleigh Salterton. The final bit of silverware was the golden boot which was claimed by Adam MacPherson from University of Exeter who beat Topsham Town’s Lee Radford by one goal overall.

2025/2026 – We are sorry to announce that North Molton SC have decided to part company with the league as they have taken voluntary relegation to the North Devon Football League, we wish them all the best for the future and hopefully we will see them return one day in the near future. Due to the Stags withdrawal from the league, the remaining fifteen teams will once again compete in the division next season with new clubs Boca Seniors and Fremington joining to make the overall number seventeen clubs. This is a provisional constitution which will be confirmed at next weeks AGM. A report will follow after the AGM which will also confirm the start dates for the new season.

Pre-Season Friendlies – As always, this time of year is a very busy period for clubs trying to arrange pre-season friendly matches. I will once again compile a list of friendlies on the website if all clubs could send me their confirmed matches by email (devonfootballleaguemedia@gmail.com) this would be greatly appreciated. If any clubs are searching for matches for specific dates please feel free to also include these in an email and I will help keep an eye out for clubs advertising for matches.

Sponsorship opportunities – The league have a variety of sponsorship opportunities both big and small for businesses who may be interested in supporting the league. Any interested parties are encouraged to contact the league secretary (secretarydevonfootballleague@gmail.com) for more details of packages and prices.

League AGM – The league AGM takes place on Wednesday 18th June with a 7PM start at Topsham Town Football Club with tea and coffee available from 6.30PM. Each club should be represented by two people, although if a vote is required each club will only be entitled to one vote. For any further information or a copy of the AGM pack, please contact the league secretary.
